Organizations have valuable data that is carefully stored in systems and other repositories but is often hard to find because of language and terminology differences.

Most data is captured and stored in a way that it is hard to find, access and reuse again.

Data is sticky and does not flow easily from source to destination

While some knowledge is documented in a formalized manner (Explicit), most knowledge is acquired through experience (Implicit) and isn't documented

Most employees are unaware of existing enterprise knowledge and end up creating "new" knowledge (or so they think)
